Day 1 - and Itinerary

Hawaii

Let the adventures begin! Tsunami be damned - we are going to Hawaii.

Nothing says happy family vacation like a 3am wake up for a full day of flight travel!

That guy in the high vis was our glorified Uber (aka my brother). Not pictured: Aunt Monica, also our Uber.

This is the first time all of us are flying to a state, flying together, and having Dan on our trip - it's always been driving or not everyone at the same time on a flight. Crazy. Don't worry, we lost Dan on the plane. Twice.

First day was a hefty travel day, and Miles was still recovering from his trip to Japan (time changes/sleep schedules are NOT regulated yet).

And when you have a layover in Vegas... does it really matter if it's 8:30am?

Guess who's legal

Our flight was delayed taking off, delayed arriving, delayed, delayed. But we arrived - starving after a full day of planes with only snacks. Got into the AirBnb and Miles immediately passed out. The rest of us went to the Waikiki Brewing Co. for some great food.

Our view from our room:

Some tasty food and drinks - including a Guava cider

Blackened Mahi Tacos

Got sidetracked at an ABC store, Charlie almost got a tattoo, but we ended up at the Hula in the courtyard and I walked down to the beach for the sunset - got to see some surfers.

And back up for bed because it's like 12:30am at home and we were up at 3am

Today's Lessons:

1. When measuring your bag, be sure you know what 62" tall looks like. It looks like Charlie, in case you were wondering. Ask Maggie for more details.

2. Flight Diva wasn't sure how to handle flying with the commoners.

3. No worries, the butt wipes have arrived.

Tentative itinerary, set to change at any moment:

  • Honolulu/Waikiki
  • Hawaiian Volcanoes National Park
  • Kona and surrounding areas (likely the entire Big Island)

Tomorrow is not well planned, so outside of Pearl Harbor, I'm not sure what will happen!

Adventure is out there! 🎈
